The hiring process at Speedway is usually very quick. Many employees say they applied online and were called back for an interview within the first two days after applying.

Many also say they were hired within the first week after they submitted their Speedway application online.

So, after you apply, you will get a callback within the first week. You will be interviewed by the hiring manager and given a response within that same week.

During the process, the company will perform a background check on you.

Once you are hired, you’ll have paid orientation followed by a training day at your store.

Speedway Hiring Age

Only applicants who are 18 years or older are eligible to apply at Speedway. This is due to the fact that this convenience store sells tobacco products as well as alcohol.

Does Speedway drug test?

Speedway generally does not drug test people before they are hired. Some employees say there are no drug tests at all, even if you have some type of accident on the job.

Applicants say that the general feeling is that Speedway would have a tough time hiring anyone if they had to perform drug tests before they hired people! Keep in mind they do conduct background checks!

  • Tuition reimbursement
  • Vacation days, holiday pay, and sick pay

Final Thoughts

For such a successful company, Speedway needs to take a bigger step when it comes to improving the starting hourly wages for its employees. It’s surprising how many successful companies these days think they can hire a store associate and expect that employee to remain loyal while working for extremely low wages and hardly ever giving them pay raises.

There are some companies such as Wawa and RaceTrac that pay their new employees a little bit better and I recommend you check out these companies before you consider Speedway as an entry-level worker.

With that said, Speedway is actually a great choice for someone who wants to eventually get into management. If you can endure the entry level low pay until you make it to a managerial position, then by all means, this job is a great opportunity for you.

You’ll have to work hard, prove yourself to be dependable, and communicate well with your management team in order to progress through the ranks.

All in all, Speedway is a solid company. However, for applicants looking for a steady job to be able to at least get them through life and to help pay the bills, this would not be my first choice. of course, that is unless I wanted to eventually get a management job.
